Sambar

INGREDIENTS:

  1. Drumsticks - 2/ any vegetable cuttings of your choice 
  2. Bengal gram dal - 100 g
  3. Small Onion - 10(Chopped)
  4. Salt - to taste
  5. Tomatoes - 2 (Mushed)
  6. Dry red chilli - 2
  7. garlic cloves - 2
  8. Curry leaves - few
  9. Tamarind - lemon replica watches uk sized
  10. Coriander leaves - Few (for garnishing)
 
To Temper:

  1. Oil - 2 tbsp
  2. Mustard - few

Recipe:

  1. In a 1 cup of hot water add the tamarind and soak it for 30 mins then nicely filter it.
  2. Take the dal and boil it . For 1 cup dhal , add 2.5 cups of water , 2 garlic cloves  and give 3 whistles
  3. In a vessel add oil  and fry mustard and curry leaves. 
  4. Add the chopped onions and cook until golden brown.
  5. Then add the chopped tomatoes and sauté well
  6. Now add 20g Aravai sambar powder and the cut vegetables. Add 1 cup water to cook the vegetables. 
  7. Once vegetables are almost cooked add the tamarind pulp.
  8. Then add dhal and cook  the mixture for another 10 mins
  9. Turn of the heat. Garnish with chopped coriander. Now Tasty Sambar is ready to serve.
